In many cases insoles are necessary for the treatment of conditions treated in the physiotherapy clinic. It is very important that the insoles are individually made for the patient and his problem and that they are adjusted on a regular base.
A common reason for pain is for example a difference of length of our legs. This can be a problem since birth or can occure after knee- and hip replacements or caused by arthritis. If this difference is not equalized it can lead to many other conditions. As a consequence the pelvis can get into an asymmetric position – that leads to a distortion of the lumbar spine. This distortion has effects on the shoulders and then finally on the position of the head. Affected persons can have back pain, sciatica, neckpain, headaches and facial pain as a consequence apart from a bad posture and limbing.
Insoles can be necessary in the following cases:
- Knee- or hip problems
- arthritis
- asymmetric pelvis
- Back pain, sciatica, etc.
- Neck pain
- Jaw problems and headache
- calcaneal spur
- pain in hamstrings
- pain or cramps in calf muscles
- pain and malformation in feet
- flat, hollow, skew or splay foot
Insoles can be an ideal complement to the physiotherapeutical treatment
Everything that changes the way of standing or walking, like deformities of the feet caused by rheumatism has big consequences on the rest of the body as we could see on the example of the different lenths of legs. The longer we live with the causes the bigger are the consequences for our posture, mobility and joints, bones and muscles.
With a special computer-assisted study trained podiatrists can explore how we charge each side and where exactly the feet are charged with our weight. They can test how insoles can help to adjust asymmetries, relief from pain by treating the problem at its “root”. The individual insoles can equalize different lenghts, or deformations - with harder and softer parts they help to bring the feet into the right position. Often they have to be adjusted after a couple of months as the body begins to change.
For an ideal therapy the Physiotherapist and Podiatrist work hand in hand. At Physio-Fit a trained podiatrist works with our Physios and Osteopaths.
